Mazel Tov!

I am so honored that you are considering me as an officiant at your upcoming wedding or baby-naming.

My approach to all life-cycle events is  to personalize and customize  the ceremony for the couple or family. It is your special day and a momentous occasion in your life, and I want to ceremony to reflect you.

I officiate at ceremonies for Jewish, interfaith and LGBTQ couples  throughout the Washington, DC, Metro area.  I am happy to incorporate meaningful elements for different traditions into the ceremony. Crafting a meaningful, inclusive ceremony is a joy for me.

L'Shalom,

Rabbi Debbie Cohen

My Background

I am the rabbi at Beth Chai in Bethesda.  Beth Chai is a Jewish humanist congregation, which means we focus on on the cultural, historical and social justice aspects of Judaism, rather than the theological.

I embrace a diversity of Jewish practice and traditions.  I was ordained in the Reform movement and served Reform and Conservative congregations before Beth Chai.  I enjoy helping people craft rituals and ceremonies that reflect their values and backgrounds.

Since a lifecycle event is so personal, let me tell you a little about my family.  My husband David and I have been married for over 20 years.  We live in Rockville with our three children and one rather unruly Collie.

Please feel free to reach out to me.  I would love to talk and learn more about you and your vision for your wedding or baby-naming.
